The Hubscher Family began its origins in the holy country of Poland. Like most good Jews, it eventually emigrated to the United States for the Jewish, er American Dream. It is only now, after two thousand years, that the Hubscher Family has now began to implement the Zionist Dream of Yishuv Eretz Yisrael. Those Hubschers who remain in the Diaspora are mostly congregated in Chicago, with others in New Jersey and Nebraska.

Sarah Hubscher is currently studying in Teachers Institute in Chicago. While majoring in Business, Sarah is also learning a great deal of Torah topics from the "gedolim" of Chicago. She spent last year delving into the secrets of the Torah at Ateres Bnos Yerushalayim in Jerusalem, Israel. Sarah is a terrific aunt to her nephew and nieces.

Sarah's accomplishment's have included, inter alia:

Ilana has recently completed her master's degree in occupational therapy at theUniversity of Illinois and now is ensuring the greater Chicago community to be properly therapied.

Malka Shira spends her Sunday afternoons spreading her wealth (the privelege of being with her) with her two sets of doting grandparents.

Nechama, as her name indicates, brings comfort to Am Yisrael as well as to her parents.

Shuli, Efrem, Zevy and Shira Popel live in Chicago, right up the block from the Matriarch and Patriarch Hubschers.

Shuli is a per diem nurse atLutheran General Hospital during the year and works her tail off at Camp HASC during the summers.

Efrem is a special education teacher in the Chicago suburbs and has completed a masters in special education and educational administration. What's next, Semicha? Efrem has been working with special children atHASC for the past 9 summers.

Zevy is a star student in his "school" and is an aspiring Arie Crown scholar. Shira is on her way to becoming a Talmud iluy.

Moshe & Miriam Hubscher reside in Chicago next door to Bubby and have brought into this world their 4 children: Shuli, Shlomo,Ilana and Sarah. (you can blame them).

Moshe, also known as Ivan, is a computer programmer by trade, and a busy Saba with a knack for rearranging a refridgerator or shed with the best of them.

Miriam is a teacher in English as a second language (ESL) at Davis School in Chicago and spends her "free" time learning Koheles, running between committees, shul picnics and community events, and simcha hopping.

Bubby is everyone's favorite Bubby, even if they're not related. Bubby's children,
Anna, Miriam, and Al always seek opportunities to spend time with her.

Joshie May is a young man full of life and love. He enjoys spending time with his family, expanding his ever growing muti-media collection and just chilling outside. Although he is very happy at school during the academic year, he anxiously awaits the summers that he spends in camp HASC. He has been a camper at HASC for the past 10 years and the fun just never seems to end for him there. Although both his sisters live far away he makes sure to keep up with everyone over the phone (he especially likes erev Shabbat phone calls!).

Rena (May) and Aharon Juni live in Holliswood, Queens (but soon are moving to the cornfields of Indiana).

Dr. Rena is pursuing a post-doctural fellowship in immunology at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. But don't let that impress you too much, Rena is still a kid at heart.

Aharon (soon to be Dr. Aharon) is completing his studies towards a PhD in Neuro and Clinical Psycology atCUNY.

Hadassah has a special bias towards people from Trinidad and can roar like a lion (although in the picture here, it's more like purr like a kitty).

Ariella was named on Hoshana Rabba and her clever uncle Shlomo thought that her name would be Aravah to be a great 1-2 punch with her sister, Hadassah. But, alas, Ariella is also a beautiful name.

Daniel May, z"l, Malka's beloved brother was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. As a teenager he spent many years learning Torah in Eretz Yisrael. He went on to study Biology and Jewish Studies at Yeshiva University. While pursuing his Doctorate in Jewish Studies at Harvard University he met and married Debra Stahl. They eventually moved to NY where Daniel worked in hi-techand Debra pursued her career inlaw. They have two beautiful children, Elisheva and Ben.

Daniel was unfortunately taken from this world at an early age of 29. He is remembered with love and admiration by all of his family and friends.

Despite the very busy and active life of Sheldon and Naomi May, after raising their four childrenDaniel, Rena, Malka, and Joshie, they enjoy relaxing in the evening over a pot of tea and a good Braves' game.

They can also be spotted sometime in July or August, decked out in full gear hiking the offbeaten tracks of the Canadian Rockies.

Rabbi Dr. Sheldon is a a professor of BioChemistry at Georgia TechUniversity. and spends his free time conjuring up Torah challenges for Sukkos and Pesach.

Naomi is the vice-principal at Greenfield Hebrew Academy of Atlanta and is a big fan of the Braves (when they're good), spicy food (although she usually enjoys it alone) and good novels.

Maayan Hodaya was born on April 4, 2006, to her doting parents, Malka andShlomo. Maayan enjoys sleeping during all daylight hours. She enjoys sleeping in her carseat (pictured), sleeping while being held (pictured), sleeping in her swing (use your imagination), and sleeping pretty much anywhere. As irony would have it, Maayan has not taken a liking to sleeping during the NIGHT. Although the concept does talk to her, she hasn't yet come to terms with it. But we all have faith.

Maayan was born a few weeks early and had to spend 10 growing days in Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem. She came home to a grand welcoming during Chol HaMoed. Her daily activities include sleeping, sleeping, and being "mutch'aed" by her two older sisters (the big one and the middle one) when her motz falls out. She leads a good life, boruch Hashem (hence her second name) and is now vying for the title of heavy weight champion of the zayit.

Yonit Hadassa Hubscher

Yonit Hadassa Hubscher, born September 21, 2004, is now about one and a half and, by golly, warrants an updated web page. Yonit has nicely developed a personality of her own refusing to live in the perpetual shadow of her competing, yet beloved, older sister, Shalva. She has also taken on a new role as the middle sister, upon the birth of 'Aayan', her baby sister. She is Maayan's official motz girl (you've heard of bat boy, so you get the picture). Although Yonit doesn't speak all that much, she has a special knack of getting her message across to both her Ima and her Abba. Her list of selected words is short, but poignant, and include: Ima, Abba, "more", and "todah". Yonit learned how to walk around Channukah, but still treasures opportunities to be held. Yonit's favorite pasttimes include laying towels and babywhipes out flat over stools and/or toys, climbing up slides, and attributing the "woof" sound to any and every animal, bird, fish, or amphibean.

Shalva Chana Hubscher was born onNovember 28, 2002 to her loving parentsShlomo and Malka.

Shalva is a prize student at Gan Rutilocated in Givat HaZayit in Efrat. At Gan, Shalva davens, plays in the 'pinat habubot', and tussles in the 'chatzeir' with her English-speaking cohorts.

Shalva is now almost 3.5 years old and makes sure that no one ever, even mistakenly, uses the words "small" or "little" with her regard. Having sisterYonit to play the middle one, andMaayan to play the little one gives Shalva a lot of responsibility to live up to and she handles it fantasticly.

Shalva enjoys translating bizarre Hebrew words for her father, making soups and other delicacies with her kitchen set, and having long and deep philosophicalconversations with her imaginary friends, Gili, Kash, and Gulu.

Shalva will volunteer what her favorite songs are; amongst others:

pil pilon
and the classic, wheels on the bus.

Due to Shalva's singing talents, at the tender age of 3, she has already mastered the coordination of playing "Name that Tune" while simultaneously having her hair lathered in shampoo and stealing one of the rubber duckies from Yonit.

Malka Adina Hubscher (formerly "May") was born to Sheldon and Naomi May onMarch 5th, 1977 in Atlanta.

Malka grew up sorrounded by her siblings, Daniel, Rena, and Joshie. Aside from the May family sabbaticals to France and Rechovot, Malka studied 2 years at the Hebrew Academy, four years at Torah Day School, and 4 years atYeshiva of Atlanta.

Malka finished high school a year early and left her illustrious career in Southern Region NCSY to come to Israel to study for a year. What began as one year atMichlala, became two. But, not to worry! Due to these 2 intensive years, Malka was able to finsih her B.A. in Judaic Studies atStern in only 2 additional years. But she couldn't get out of NY just yet. Malka then pursued and completed her Masters Degree in Bible at the Bernard Revel School of Judaic Studies.

At that point, Malka decided to come to Israel for the year once again. But this time, a year of learning at the Matan Women's Institute for Torah Learning in Jerusalem revitalized Malka's dream of Aliyah.

In 2000, Malka met Shlomo in Jerusalem while simultaneously beginning her career as a mechanechet in various Jerusalem seminaries and schools. Malka and Shlomo married the following June.

In 2002, Malka experienced the pleasure of motherhood with the birth of our bechora, Shalva Chana.

Malka, Shlomo, and Shalva moved toGivat HaZayit in Efrat. Malka spreads the good word of Torah in her Holy Teachings at Midreshet Moriah and Be'er Miriam.

Former jobs included Manhattan Day School, Machon Gold, and the Shalem Program of Young Judea.

On September 21, 2004, Malka and Shlomo welcomed their second daughter, Yonit Hadassa, into the world.

On April 4, 2006, Maayan Hodayajoined the Hubscher bunch and is now enjoying the good life with her sisters.

Shlomo Zalman Hubscher was born on May 26, 1977 to Moshe and Miriam Hubscher in Chicago.Shlomo comes from a long line ofHubschers (or derivatives thereof) and continues the tradition of changing the spelling of the name in every new country we reach. Shlomo's maternal history is also storied.

Shlomo grew up in Chicago, where he spent the first 18 years of his life. His academic background includes schoolyard brawls at Arie Crown Hebrew Day School until 8th grade and Skokie Yeshiva for High School. Summers were often spent in Camp Moshava (Wildrose) or at beautiful Wrigley Field and also included one summer in HASC. Aside from the zechut of growing up under the auspices of such amazing parents, Shlomo was also privileged to be surrounded by three wonderful sisters, Shuli, Ilana, and Sarah.

Shlomo's rebirth began with his venture to the Yeshiva formerly known as Yeshivat HaKotel. where he had the privilage to view theHoly of Holies on a daily basis while emersed in the study of Torah and Talmud.

After a brief hiatus in Yeshiva University in New York, (and some side work at NCSY in Teaneck), Shlomo returned to the Land of his forefathers, the Land that Jews have been dying and crying to come Home to for 2,000 years. Upon fulfilling this eternal dream, Shlomo continued his academic pursuits of the world-renowned Logisticsdepartment at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, and earned his B.A. in 2000.

Shortly thereafter, Shlomo fulfilled another lifelong pursuit, that being the meeting of his Aishet Chayil.Malka and Shlomo met (thanks to a few friends) in the summer of 2000 and were married 10 months later.

The newlyweds thought it appropriate to begin their lives together in the Holy City of Jerusalem in the neighborhoods of Katamon and the Germany Colony.

In November of 2002, approximately 18 months after their wedding, Malka and Shlomo welcomed their first bundle of joy into their lives. Shalva Chana and in the summer of 2003, the "Right Wing Extremist" Hubscher Family chose to "settle the land" by moving to Givat HaZayit in Efrat.

On September 21, 2004, Malka and Shlomo welcomed their second daughter, Yonit Hadassa, into the world.

On April 4, 2006, Maayan Hodayajoined the Hubscher bunch and is now enjoying the good life with her sisters.

Professionally, Shlomo has work experience in Shachter & NamdarDiamonds, KPMG Consulting andTranfer Pricing at PwC and Deloitte & Touche in Tel Aviv.
